'Breadth' - Old Thoroughfare II

'Breadth' - Old Thoroughfare II

oils on panels
41x122cm

The second of my panel paintings about the Withersfield Road, Haverhill. I used texts with some of the panels which were taken from Mozart's Requiem which I was singing with Haverhill Choral Society and seemed apt as the road runs past the large town cemetery and one of the town's large Victorian churches. Other images of abstracted cars, floods (the road used to flood years ago) lace curtains in old windows, and street signs. I used brick dust from the road mixed with the oil paint. Much is suggested but not too obviously to take away from seeing the whole as an abstracted piece..
